Amidst the overwhelming support and positive response to the announcement that we’re publishing not one, but two glossy print magazines, these are the only two questions that address concerns about the project. While it’s true that many of our neighbors are taking a “wait and see if it will pan out” philosophy, our drive to bringing quality publications to the Clarksville area is gaining momentum. Our first few ads have been sold, and we’re pressing on with the sales effort with encouraging results.
Still, though, those questions remain. I’ll address the slouching economy concern first.
More than a year ago, the US entered its current recession. Millions of jobs have been lost, home values have declined, and a tumultuous election led to new policies and ever-increasing federal deficit. No matter one’s political viewpoint, one thing is clear: things aren’t all that hot for new businesses. Why now, of all times?
Yes, it’s a risk. However, it’s a calculated risk that has a great many factors that we’ve considered. First, the local economy is extraordinarily robust. Home sales are still going strong. The local retail community, while not as strong as it has been in recent years, still churns out millions of dollars worth of merchandise every month. Big box stores sell several truckloads worth of stock every day, and the local mom-and-pop stores still compete for business. In short, our local economy is strong, and shows clear signs of getting stronger.
The recent announcement and groundbreaking of the new Hemlock Semiconductor plant is another major factor in our decision. That, in tandem with the completion of CDE Lightband’s new fiber-optic network, has given clear purpose to the local market - a market that is poised to emerge as a 21st century powerhouse.
While today’s market is shaky, and is changing every single day, one thing is clear. We at Imagine Media Solutions are positioning ourselves to dig our roots deep - past the shifting sands of instability, and into the bedrock of sound business practices, stellar quality, and solid ethics. In short, we believe this is the BEST time to establish our services. In a couple of years, we will be completely in position to take on a leadership role with our community’s business leaders to carry our city’s 21st century market into being a beacon of just how business should be done.
However, magazines are just one part of our operation. Our world-class design is what drives the overall look of all of our products. Our web development team is emerging as a visionary group of people that are committed to bringing the best of the world wide web. Our video production is already turning heads. In short, we are actively building all four of our divisions with an equal commitment to stellar excellence and service. A fifth, with an emphasis on training and community is forthcoming. It’s a simple rule: diversify; don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
Our marketing slogan is simple and to the point: “Your business started with an idea. Our business is to make that idea shine.” We at Imagine Media Solutions are committed to “the idea” and will work to make your business or organization into a beacon for the world around it. In a time where the darkness of recession looms, consumers are looking for businesses and groups that will serve their needs with integrity and quality. When we all emerge out of that slow economy, we’ll be shining brighter than ever — pinpoints of brilliance in a sea of rising stars.
But why print? Isn’t it odd for a multimedia group to put emphasis on such an old and outdated medium? Sure, these are fair questions. Our Internet-savvy world has become more and more reliant on the Web for up-to-date news and information. The recent death of pop icon Michael Jackson is a clear example of how the public will flock to the web for the latest news.
Even with the near instantaneous blip of news and information from the Internet, there’s still something about print that makes it both worthwhile and completely relevant. New technology has allowed for better design, and better value in printing. In short, we’re able to present full-color, glossy printing at a fraction of the cost such a project would have required even ten years ago. A quality magazine with gorgeous photos, brilliant design, and stunning color is available at all of our fingertips, with the right team behind it.
All of this leads to the one critical element that will set Business Clarksville and Warioto Arts and Heritage apart from other locally printed magazines, especially those dime-a-dozen “coupon books” — the writing. Our writers are already working on building content for our premiere issues, with indepth research, complete analyses of events and the local market, and insightful explorations of our city’s vast treasures.
We believe that magazines shouldn’t be just a place to have advertising; it’s a resource for everyone. When it’s not on a coffee table, it can be read - and re-read. What’s new? What’s hip? What’s exciting? That’s what our writers are looking to explore. We believe that you’ll agree that this is a new standard in print and publishing for our region — a standard of which you’ll definitely want to help raise. With this, the value of print becomes clear - it is timeless.
Advertising is available, as are subscriptions. To learn how you can place your ad, call our office at (931) 648-1788. To subscribe, visit our online store. We’re hard at work to build up our local community — but we need your support to do it! Please consider joining with us as we take these next critical steps into the future of our great community.
